The throwing knife has been specially designed to be used in a very popular sport known as the knife throwing. The sports involve a skilled and the trained artists with his throwing knife and a target on which the knife is supposed to be aimed at. The throwing knife differs with the common pocket knife to some extent.
The throwing knife requires some desirable properties to achieve specific tasks. The pocket knives are always made from one piece material and not like other knives. The traditional knives had handle manufactured separately from the blade and then fixed into the blade. Nowadays the knives made for throwing purpose does not have a handle , the complete construction of the knife is done with one piece material and the same material is shaped to act as a handle.
These types of knives are durable with balanced distribution of weight and are ideal for knife throwing. Some of the throwing knives can be seen with double edges; obviously these knives do not have a handle. The double-edged knife does not have sharp edges to prevent any type of injury to the knife thrower. The throwing knife penetrates the target because of its sharp point and does not require sharp edges and therefore the overall weight, weight distribution and durability is more important than the sharp edges of knife.
The throwing knife serves different from the pocket knife and serves altogether different purpose so the steel required for manufacturing blades must be malleable and easily breakable.
